mStory (was GPSJ++ for those of you who have the earlier version) is a mobile mapping and recording system built for the PocketPC platform. It integrates GPS tracking technology with a set of diary-like recording features. mStory assign a variety of attributes to recorded locations, including photos, audio recordings, narrative descriptions and icons. mStory supports several CF-based digital photo and video cards, and outputs recordings as XML logs, together with useful position data.
mStory is used as a very portable, tightly integrated mobile experience recording device, appropriate for Mobile Ethnographic Studies, Experience Design Research in contexts where participants are extraordinarily mobile, and observation proves difficult but diaristic recording using digital imaging, text descriptions and video would be valuable.
